Here in Canada, it is six o'clock on Christmas Eve, but my family in Europe and the Middle East have already welcomed Christmas Day. This prayer is from Grandma's Christmas scrapbook.
Dear Lord, at this holy Christmas open our hearts to all that is good. Turn our eyes to the star of Bethlehem which casts its radiance down the long corridor of the centuries and let us see in it a promise of peace and eternal hope. Above all, give us grace to be truly thankful for the many bounties granted us...
to live in a land of plenty
to walk without fear
to love and be loved...
to worship with freedom
to see the miracles of the changing seasons, the forest, fields and waters
For these and more, we thank you.
Amen
