In a way- nobody sees a flower-
really- it is so small
We haven’t the time
and to see takes time,
like to have a friend takes time.

Nature will bear the closest inspection.
She invites us to lay our eyes level
with her smallest leaf, and take an insect’s view of its plain.
Thoreau
As one grows older one should grow more
expert at finding beauty in unexpected places,
in deserts and even in towns,
in ordinary human faces and among wildflowers.

GORGEOUS photos! Makes me sad to see summer slipping away.
ReplyDeleteO my, those are such amazing flower shots! Bravo and happy Friday Flowers to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ruth. I was thinking of lots of wildflowers today. The back of our property has a long and wide hill, covered only by some crepe myrtles and blue rugs. The hill would look beautiful filled with wildflowers!
ReplyDeleteThe last quote by Edna St. Vincent Millay was the one I chose to appear under my picture in my high school senior yearbook :o)
Ahhhh.... beautiful Ruth!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Lovely! Ruth. I've missed dropping by. These quotes are wonderful. the pictures - so pretty. Sweet sweet late summer. I love fall, but hate to see the flowers go.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the previous post:Poor Dakota! Poor Becka! Glad they're both OK.
Ginger, I miss the long days most of all. Getting up in the dark again is hard!
ReplyDeleteTom-Thanks. I like the fall wildflowers, especially those purple asters.
Mary- It has been interesting watching the succession of wildflowers. None last too long, and you would have to plant a variety to give colour all season. Nice quote. You haven't changed much!
Jayne- Thanks. Hope you are cooler too.
Cathy- Glad you had time again to stop by for a visit!
