    I recall when I came back to the U.S. with my parents, and went to grade school, I was mystified by Valentines. I don't remember such a thing in school in (then) Rhodesia.
    And I remember feeling awkward and a bit left out, as other students had their shoebox Valentine's mailboxes overflow.

    Ann- I don't know if doves mate for life, but they are our love birds.

    KGMom- Valentine's Day was stressful during school years being a real popularity contest and an indication of whether you fit in or not. It still is a holiday which leaves many people out in the romantic sense. But we can all love life and people regardless.
